I Create Relevant, Engaging, & Enduring Learning Experiences
I believe that professional learning is most effective when it bridges the gap between theory and immediate classroom application. With a career rooted in secondary mathematics and district-level leadership, I design sessions that meet educators where they are while strategically extending their reach. My approach prioritizes peer collaboration and the co-creation of knowledge, ensuring every participant leaves with more than just ideas. By integrating Generative AI and research-based EdTech, I empower educators to move beyond paper-based constraints to create personalized, data-driven, and truly inclusive learning environments.

- This was the first, formal research effort sponsored at the institution to examine teaching and learning at CSU Pueblo. The activity kicked off with a 3 day summer institute. Sessions were provided by faculty from the US Air Force Academy, The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and CSU Pueblo faculty to build participants' knowledge and skills. Sessions included: SoTL Overview, Quantitative Data Collection and Analysis, Qualitative Data Collection and Analysis, Institutional Review Board Process and Procedures, and CSU Pueblo Resources for Locating Literature. Five faculty research projects were conducted in interdisciplinary teams by fourteen faculty and are in the process of publication review.
Open Educational Resource (OER). Participants: 44

CSU Pueblo began developing zero textbook courses and majors in 2021. I served as a project leadership team member, developing and iterating faculty resources and tracking documents for individual projects.
-
The OER program at CSUP is recognized by the state of Colorado for exemplary work in this area.
Creating and Teaching Online and Hybrid Courses. Participants: 157

-
Each participant implemented a plan in partnership with students that had departmental or campus-wide impact. Participants and students participated in emancipatory activities in a shared power structure. Students directly engaged radical pedagogy to develop their ability to participate in liberatory, democratic pedagogies embedded in their learning environment.

Inspiring Inquiry Based Learning Micro Credential: 27
-
Faculty learned how to design and implement inquiry based learning. They met as a cohort for in-person workshops centering on increasing student success. They engaged in rapid prototyping of a student success intervention based on data collected in a brief needs analysis including a gap and PESTLE analysis. Each participant submitted a written plan detailing the rationale for and plan to implement the student success intervention they developed.

Teach Students How to Learn Micro Credential. Participants: 16
-
Grounded in the work published by Saundra McQuire. Faculty learned interdisciplinary strategies to incorporate into their course to Improve student metacognition, study skills, and motivation.
-
I led work to offer numerous professional learning and student-facing guest lectures that build on McGuire's work. I updated the metacognitive presentation to include Bloom's Revised Taxonomy's Cognitive Dimensions and shifting the perspective from "studying" to "learning" using evidence-informed methods.

Learning-Based Grading. Participants Micro Credential: Participants: 4
-
Low interest in alternative grading methods grew over time. I wove information about different grading methods into the backward design process for faculty developing and revising courses, resulting in broader implementation of alternative grading practices.
